Meet the Teacher

Hello, my name is Anthony Barba and I will be your child's fifth grade teacher this year!

I grew up in Kerman, CA and was raised in Kerman Unified schools during my younger years and throughout middle school. I then attended University High School in Fresno. After graduating from high school, my family and I moved to Clovis. I received my Bachelor's Degree and Teaching Credential from California State University, Fresno. I then went on to work at Selma and Clovis Unified School District teaching grades 3rd, 5th, and 6th. This will be my first year at Cesar E. Chavez Elementary!

On a personal note, I was raised in a family of teachers. Both of my parents still teach in Kerman Unified and have been educators for over 15 years. My younger sister is currently attending Fresno State and also plans to go into teaching. I have an affinity for technology and all things computer related.

I was instilled with a passion for education at a very early age which has inspired me to become the teacher I am today. My primary goal in the classroom is to engage students through the use of technology. I frequently use Google Classroom, Google Drive, and other forms of technology in my teaching. This allows students the opportunity to become familiar with technology they will use in their higher education and career. I also believe in the importance of innovation and implement this by constantly evolving the techniques and strategies I use in my classroom. Along with this, I encourage my students to always use their creativity by incorporating art and engineering into my lessons. The usage of these three strategies allows every student a chance to become excited about learning and work towards their full potential.

I look forward to working with you and your child in this upcoming school year. Go Wildcats!
